discovery learning

How do you envision discovery learning as part of your teaching and curriculum?

I think it is important for kids to have direction on some assignments, but every once in a while they need to have a discovery experience. Kids need to know how to find answers on their own. They need to learn how to be able to do research or explore something they are interested in when the class just doesn't go into deep enough for them.
Students can discover more than just answers about an assignment. They can discover how well they work with others, what skills they can perform well, and new topics they enjoy that they would like to learn more about.
As a person, I am always finding new things to learn about. As a teacher, I will encourage my students to have that same passion for learning. Learning is a never ending experience. I hope everyone can discover this.
